Bishop Romey Coles Jr

Church History

As natives of Washington, D.C., Bishop Romey Coles Jr. and Pastor Rosina Coles were called to Cleveland by God to a ministry of reconciliation. They were assigned to alleviate a poverty spirit, and a self centered mentality through taking the people to a higher level of living by spiritual truths of God’s word.

Upon receiving his call to Pastor in 1998, the Lord spoke to Bishop Coles instructing him to move to Cleveland, Ohio. God led Bishop Coles to found a church of his own, and thus The Church of The Lion of Judah was founded September 9, 1999.

For the first years of the ministry, services were held in Rising Heights. They grew there for a year while evangelizing that community. Continuing to follow God’s mandate for his life, Bishop Coles sought God for a place to house the vision that God had given him or LOJ.

With a strong witness from God, Bishop Coles led the congregation to E. 74th Street. Here was the place the vision would begin to manifest and Ward 7 would be the community. The Church of the Lion of Judah Abundant Life was launched.

Bishop Romey Coles and Pastor Rosina Coles are now submitted under Dr. Michael Freeman of Spirit of Faith Christian Center, Temple Hills, Maryland.

After years of worshipping at the E. 74th location, The Church of the Lion of Judah was blessed to move its main location to Maple Heights, Ohio in the Mapletown Plaza. This is now the era of one church in multiple locations. Lion of Judah in now located in Cleveland, Maple Heights, and Brunswick, Ohio. As well as a covering ministry of many other churches, both local and abroad.

Proverbs 28:1-2: The wicked flee when no man pursueth, but the righteous are as bold as a lion; for the transgression of the land many are the princes thereof, but by a man of understanding and knowledge, the state thereof shall be prolonged.
